Experience the 'other' Phuket on a little-known stretch of coastline, with its sandy coves, dramatic cliffs, tropical forest, picturesque hills and crystal waters is one of the Phuket's best-kept secrets.

A small exclusive private residential development on Phuket's western coast, sits discretely on a secluded headland with something of a mythical past - a past intertwined with the very origins of Phuket; it's name derived from one of the mythical settlers of the island's pre-history- a man blessed with magical powers.

Every villa in this delightful development is different. Every villa is about space, living space within - and empty space around. Where another developer might have easily fitted in two more luxury homes and still claimed adequate separation, these planners have left open space - a shared wooded parkland that ensures nobody overlooks his neighbour aiding seclusion and privacy.

How is this possible? Combining the complex natural landscape with carefully considered, imaginative and expert design, some homes are placed in dramatic settings, others on gently sloping plateaux. This approach to design has shielded each villa from its neighbours and yielded a visual density even lower than the numbers suggest.

Concept
Each villa is fashioned with care, attention to detail and responsiveness to the buyer's wishes.

Design
Combining visual elements of Asian-style architecture (visually appealing but characterised by unconnected 'vertical' spaces) with the functional elements of modern Western design and planning, with its emphasis on the horizontal: horizontal space that is practical and connects well to other elements of the house.

"Luxury is horizontal space". The structure is defined by clean edged horizontal roof elements that float over living spaces and equally clearly defined 'floating' floor elements. Walls are placed between the roof and floor elements as appropriate to the function of the space. Light glazing or open walling on the private ocean- facing aspects of the property counterbalanced by solid granite structures on the hillside entrance aspects.

As a result, while residents will feel the experience of living in Asia, crucial practical aspects of a luxury lifestyle remain uncompromised.

Customisation
Following six months of analysing every aspect of the site, mapping every rock and tree, studying every view, architects have developed intensely site-sensitive designs that go far beyond a generic concept. Each design is tailor-made for its particular lot, to optimize the views and natural features, while maintaining space and privacy between neighbours. So, while there is broad scope for interior customisation to achieve the lifestyle you want, the volume, footprint and external appearance of the homes have been finely calculated. They will, in most cases, remain unchangeable, quite simply because they are the best responses to the conditions and opportunities of the site. Because of these design factors, the right approach is to select the house and lot combination that suits your lifestyle.

Convenience
Not only the custom villa design, but the entire common area facilities and access to services, will be supportive of the buyer's need for privacy, for unsurpassed luxury, the desire to be left undisturbed in a beautiful setting. Mechanisms for villa management and services will be in place, but the buyer elects to use only those services that suit his or her lifestyle.

The execution
Superb, imaginative design and landscaping is all very well. But implementation is equally vital. The construction management team, specialises in the project management of 'high-end' properties. The collective backgrounds of the team include numerous leading villa projects in Phuket.

The site breaks naturally into three zones. The Upper Plateau has dramatic 180-degree views and, in most cases, a sea view to the rear as well. Villas here will generally be larger and have more functions on a single level. To the front is an open expanse of wooded parkland on a central plateau. Villas in other zones are concealed, giving the plateau villas the illusion of a waterfront home.

On the dramatic West Cliffs, each home is nestled between rock promontories on steep sites and is totally separated from its neighbour. This zone is home to three villas, each with remarkably different outlooks.

The more sheltered East Cliffs zone has views to a small, sandy cove and (in the distance) Patong. This zone features more large trees. One villa, poised directly over the small sandy beach, is separated from the others by what the developers have dubbed 'the forbidden zone', an area of steep cliffs and jungle with a recently discovered jungle track.

Specific materials defined by the design architect for use are predominantly traditional. They include quarried granite for the retaining walls and boundary screen walls, variegated local slate (with hues ranging from silver grey through soft brown) for the roofs and sandstone for the masonry walls (mainly on the lower and rear portions of the house). Other wall elements cleverly employ teak panelling and teak-wood framed fenestration. Because of the extent of control each buyer has over the interior design, selection of Interior materials will be dependent upon the buyer's choice, with guidance from the design team.

While, for durability, the main house structure will be reinforced concrete, exposed circular columns (found in most parts of the building) will be faced with sand wash on lower levels and teak clad on the upper pavilion levels.
